Barry L. Hawkins, VHTA Executive Director
Barry is a native of Richmond and received his education from Fishburne Military School and Old Dominion University. Barry served as president of Hopewell Oil Company. Barry was also the president of Hawk Company, a chain of eight convenience stores he designed, built and operated as Quik Stops. Barry led the Virginia Food Dealers Association as president for eleven years until the association merged with the Virginia Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association. Since that time he has been Senior Vice-President of the newly formed Virginia Petroleum Convenience and Grocery Association. He is a member of Virginia Society of Association Executives and serves on the executive board for Virginia Organized Industries for a Clean Environment. Barry lives in Chester with his wife Donna. They have two children Mary-Catherine and Brandon and two grandchildren.

John O'Keeffe, Director of Membership
John has been involved in management and client service for over a decade working in the semiconductor industry for over 12 years as well as sales experience in the industrial sector. John is a 2006 graduate of Averett University. John and his wife are the proud parents of a son, Colin.

Katie Hellebush, Director of Government Relations.
Prior to joining the VHTA, Katie worked for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce where she concentrated on education policy. Previously she consulted on statewide campaigns with Benedetti & Farris, LLC. A former volunteer on the McDonnell for Governor campaign, Katie also served on Governor Bob McDonnell's Transition Team. Katie received her BA from the University of Richmond, with a double major in Political Science and French.

Veronica Briggs, Marketing & Events Manager
Veronica earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She has also obtained a Meeting and Event Planning Certificate at the University Of Virginia School Of Continuing Studies in December 2008. She has worked as an office manager and meeting planner for several years prior to joining our staff and is looking forward to contributing to the growth of our exceptional organization.

Rebecca Reamer, Education, Brochure, and Marketing Manager/ProStart Coordinator
Rebecca has coordinated the VHTA ProStart and ServSafe statewide programs for several years.
ProStart is the career-building program for high school students who are interested in culinary arts and restaurant and foodservice management. Throughout an exciting two-year period, they study in the classroom, participate in mentored work experiences, and test their skills in local and national competitions. Most importantly, ProStart students grow into the leaders our industry needs. Through state and national competitions, the winning teams represent their state while competing for individualscholarships.
ServSafe and ServSafe Alcohol programs were developed by the National Restaurant Association (NRA), the ServSafe certification courses are for food and beverage managers, supervisors, inspectors, federal, state and local public health officials, chefs, bartenders , servers and anyone who requires food safety or alcohol training.
